About the role
As a Project Technician, Operational Control Systems (OCS), you’ll play a hands-on role in supporting and maintaining critical operational control systems that keep V/Line’s network running safely and efficiently. From SCADA systems to signalling communications and level crossing monitoring, you’ll help ensure critical infrastructure is implemented, maintained, and optimised to meet operational, customer, and regulatory needs.
Key accountabilities include:
- Support the rollout of OT projects including SCADA, PLCs, and train control systems.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and calibrate OT systems to ensure peak performance.
- Conduct root cause analysis and resolve technical faults under time constraints.
- Collaborate with engineers, vendors, and internal teams across the project lifecycle.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and adhere to cybersecurity protocols.
- Assist with testing, commissioning, and change control processes.
- Provide support during fault scenarios and maintenance activities.
About you

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Proven experience working with Operational Technology systems such as SCADA, PLCs, and HMIs.
- Strong knowledge of networking principles and industrial cybersecurity.
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues in OT environments.
- Experience delivering technical projects in transport or infrastructure sectors.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage priorities and adapt to evolving project needs.
- Demonstrated alignment with V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field

- Certificate IV in Rail or Tram signalling systems

The total remuneration package for this role starts from $100,000 (inclusive of superannuation) and may vary depending on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
