Are you passionate about science, leadership, and driving excellence in quality? Do you thrive in a laboratory environment while inspiring and coaching a team? If so, this opportunity might be your perfect catch.
BioMar Australia, a world leader in sustainable aquaculture feed, is seeking a Quality & Laboratory Team Leader to join our team on the beautiful northwest coast of Tasmania.
This is your chance to play a pivotal role in safeguarding the quality and compliance of our high-performance fish feed products, all while helping to shape the future of aquaculture in a pristine natural environment.
What Does the Role Look Like?
Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will take ownership of leading and developing our laboratory team, ensuring that every product meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance.
Your role will blend hands-on laboratory expertise with team leadership, covering everything from quality control testing and audits to driving continuous improvement and capability development.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, coach, and develop laboratory staff while managing day-to-day lab operations.
  • Conduct and oversee quality assurance testing of raw materials and finished products (NIR, wet chemistry, physical testing, etc.).
  • Monitor production processes and ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Conduct internal audits, investigate non-conformities, and implement corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement, digital QA initiatives, and lab automation.
  • Manage laboratory resources, consumables, budgets, and compliance activities.
  • Ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement at all levels.
Is This You?
We’re seeking an enthusiastic and capable leader who combines strong technical expertise with people management skills.
To succeed, you’ll bring:
  • A degree in science or laboratory-related field (or equivalent qualification).
  • 4–5 years of laboratory or quality assurance experience.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and inspire a team.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations (ISO, HACCP) and laboratory best practices.
  • Analytical skills to interpret test results and solve complex problems.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • A commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
What Do We Offer?
At BioMar, we know our people are our most important asset. That’s why we invest in you.
  • Competitive salary based on your skills and experience.
  • Extensive health and wellbeing program: This includes a pre-employment medical assessment for peace of mind, personal accident insurance for security, access to an EAP service and Onsite Occupational Physiologist for additional support.
  • Supercharge your super: BioMar contributes an extra 0.5% above-award superannuation to help you build a brighter financial future.
  • Professional development opportunities and support for continuous learning.
  • Thrive in an engaged culture: Be part of a collaborative and supportive team environment that values sustainability.
  • A workplace surrounded by nature—a unique blend of career growth and lifestyle balance.
