Great Barrier Reef and Marine Parks (GBR&MP) Region are excited to share an incredible opportunity for a Ranger to join the team in a newly created position.
As one of the six regions of the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, the GBR&MP Region delivers conservation and management activities across land and sea including implementing the Reef Joint Field Management Program in the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. Additionally, the Region oversees the state's southern marine parks - Great Sandy Marine Park and Moreton Bay Marine Park.
Marine Park Rangers protect and care for marine environments both on land and water. Their work includes environmental monitoring, public engagement, compliance patrols, and maintaining facilities like campgrounds and toilets. Rangers also work closely with Traditional Owners to uphold cultural values.
We're looking for a Ranger with a deep connection to Quandamooka sea country to help protect the cultural and ecological values of Moreton Bay Marine Park. The ideal candidate will understand sea country management and be passionate about preserving this unique environment. A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work well in a team are essential.
Role focus:
Demonstrate a deep connection to Quandamooka sea country and a commitment to help protect the cultural and ecological values within Moreton Bay Marine Park.
Carry out park management duties and assist with the development and implementation of works programs.
Assist with public enquiries, including providing accurate information and educating park users while carrying out patrols.
Basic administrative skills including record-keeping, using computer applications and equipment relevant to the position.
Builds and maintains positive relationships with team members, stakeholders, and the public.
To be considered you must hold the following qualifications:
an automatic/ unrestricted manual driver's licence
A Coxswain certificate is highly desirable but not a mandatory requirement.
