Job Description
The School of Information and Communication Technology at Griffith University is a leading school for education and research in digital technologies. It offers innovative programs across areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, software engineering, computer networking, and intelligent systems. With a strong emphasis on industry engagement and real-world applications, the School prepares graduates with the practical skills and knowledge needed to succeed in an increasingly dynamic and technology-driven world.
As a Research Fellow, you’ll contribute to the MRFF funded project “National data infrastructure to inform treatment in cerebral palsy”.
Cerebral Palsy (CP), the most common physical disability in childhood, affects 19.5 million people worldwide. Many children with CP require orthopaedic surgery before age 15 to improve mobility, correct deformities, and sustain long-term ambulation, but evidence supporting surgical interventions remains limited. This project aims to create a national research platform with advanced technologies for multicentre benchmarking, and causal inference predictive modelling tools to identify the most effective treatments and optimal timing for intervention. The outcomes will inform evidence-based clinical guidelines for CP surgical care in Australia and globally.
The appointee will have the opportunity to collaborate with researchers and clinical practitioners across 6 hospitals in Australia, as well as researchers in NZ and US, to develop cutting-edge AI algorithms and digital tools to inform CP intervention and treatment.
The Research Fellow will focus 80% on the MRFF project and there will also be a 20% teaching component, which involves teaching into the School of Information and Communication Technology.
In addition to the above, the position will be responsible for:
- Conducting research aligned with the MRFF project goals.
- Maintaining a good publication record in high impact, international, esteemed peer-reviewed journals and to seek competitive funding.
