Primary objective
Provide sound advice and support on business and corporate management issues and assist the Senior Director, Directors and Managers
in managing business affairs of the section. Provide advice and support to the section on contractual, procurement, budget, financial
management and provision of support for administrative matters. Provide leadership and management to the Business Services unit.
Context statement
Agency Business Systems – Justice and General Government manage client agencies’ core business digital systems through their life cycle
from strategy to design, development, release and deployment, operational delivery, maintenance, support and retirement.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide sound advice and support on business and corporate management issues and assist Senior Director and Directors in managing
the business affairs of the division.
2. Support division in achieving goals aligned with organisation strategy, monitoring performance against KPIs, and fostering innovation
among team members to stay ahead in industry trends.
3. Champion and instil best practices to support division on contractual, procurement, budget, finance management, and provision of
corporate services and administrative matters.
4. Undertake regular financial reviews by monitoring division cashflows against approved budget, investigate variances between actual
and budget results and develop responsive strategies for discussion and implementation with the Senior Director and Directors.
5. High level facilitation of stakeholder engagement in organisational strategy, business plans, budgets, financial systems and corporate
reporting requirements for the section.
6. Develop and maintain good working relationship and networks within the Department and within other agencies, external organisation
and key stakeholders.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Sound knowledge of financial administration, accounts, reporting processes and procurement processes.
2. Sound knowledge of client service requirements and experience in promoting a friendly and efficient service.
3. Comprehensive knowledge and experience of report generation techniques and options and method of analysis and interpretation.
4. Well-developed knowledge of budget formulation, financial management, cost tracking and reporting, collation and interpretation of
financial data.
5. Demonstrated working knowledge of the Financial Management Act and Regulations and the Procurement Act and Regulations.
6. High level of listening, oral, written and communications skills including the ability to write in a clear and concise manner,
communication with influence and provide meaningful and accurate information and advice for a wide variety of stakeholders.
7. Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to be proactive, work independently and exercise discretion to meet deliverables
within timeframes.
8. The ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures and build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
Desirable
1. Degree level tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, e.g., in finance, business, project management or similar
