Position: Services Impact & Engagement Volunteer
Purpose / Objective
Engagement and Impact volunteers ensure ASC clients are supported throughout their engagement with the ASC and track the impact of our services in the lives of the people we support.
Reports to: Volunteer Coordinator
Days and hours required per week: Flexible, 2-4 hours per week.
Location: ASC Office Newtown
Duties & Responsibilities
The Impact & Engagement volunteers play a key role in supporting our clients beyond their visits to the Centre. By providing regular follow-up, volunteers help ensure ASC services have a sustainable, long-term impact on the lives of our clients.
The Impact & Engagement Volunteer will be responsible for:
- Checking in and surveying clients who have attended the ASC services, reviewing the impact our services has had, and addressing any additional needs
- Identifying and monitoring trends among clients and report it to Direct Supervisor
- Identifying concerns when engaging with clients and escalating when required
- Updating client information when required in the database
- Collecting feedback, updating case files, and assisting in the preparation of reports
- Linking people with relevant internal and external supports or services as appropriate
- Regularly checking emails to stay up to date with news and process updates
- Strong customer service and communication skills including active listening, relationship building, problem solving, efficiency, empathy and collaboration and the ability to use these skills over the phone or email
- An understanding of issues affecting people seeking asylum in Australia
- An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, trauma-informed practice
- Intermediate computer skills (confidence in using the internet, Google suite and emails)
- Ability to work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers
- Flexibility and willingness to take on extra tasks as appropriate
- Ability to adhere to policies concerning code of conduct, boundaries and confidentiality
- This role is subject to a successful interview

- Act at all times per ASC's Code of Conduct, Boundaries and Child Protection Policies
- Comply with Work, Health and Safety systems
- Comply with Incident Management Procedures and emergency protocols
- Demonstrate respectful and welcoming behaviour with all people at ASC in culturally appropriate ways
- Undertake a NSW Working with Children Check before commencement and ensure it is up-to-date
- Support a child-safe organisation by undertaking screening for suitability to work with children and vulnerable people and to comply with relevant state/territory legislative requirements
