About the role:
We're looking for a creative and digitally-savvy team player to join our marketing team in a junior-to-mid level role.
This is a hybrid position that blends hands-on content creation across visual formats, social media strategy and management and influencer marketing.
You'll be at the heart of our campaigns, helping shape how our artists connect with audiences across New Zealand and around the globe.
What you'll do:
Content Strategy & Production
• Capture, create, and curate high-quality content in various formats such as video, basic animation (i.e. adding lyrics / titles), infographics, images, and social media posts.
• Generate ideas for engaging and relevant content based on target audience and business objectives.
• Contribute to the production process, including scripting, shooting, editing, and post-production tasks.
• For larger briefs, collaborate with external creatives (e.g. photographers, videographers, editors) by preparing briefs and coordinating content shoots.
• Plan and execute content capture for touring artists and events.
• Develop content strategies for artists’ social media channels.
Social Media & Owned Channels
• Manage Sony Music’s local social media platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Twitter.
• Manage Sony Music’s website – keeping it engaging and up to date.
• Develop and implement social content strategies aligned with broader campaign goals.
• Develop and maintain a content calendar to plan and schedule content releases.
• Monitor performance and engagement and share insights with the team.
• Collaborate with marketing teams and stakeholders across the business to define social media and content strategies aligned with artist and our brands goals and objectives.
• Work closely with artists, managers, our brands and internal teams to craft digital storytelling narratives that reinforce an artist’s identity, brand loyalty and cultivate community across platforms like TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube, Meta, Discord, and emerging channels.
• Build out content strategies that align with the visual identity of our artists and brands, alongside commissioned artwork, video and photoshoot creative execution for campaign.
• Develop and implement strategies that drive first party acquisition and engage fans, building and strengthening artist audiences in creative and innovative ways.
Platform Optimisation
• Monitor and optimize content for search and algorithms to improve visibility and organic reach.
• Stay ahead of platform trends, new technologies, algorithm changes, and creator tools. Identify new digital opportunities for artist storytelling and fan interaction across DSPs and social ecosystems. Educate the wider label on how to infuse them into artist campaigns.
• Stay on top of music and pop culture trends to ensure Sony Music’s creative output stays relevant and resonates with both emerging and established talent.
• Conduct content and social media audits and competitor analysis to identify opportunities for improvement.
Influencer Marketing
• Identify and engage with influencers and content creators to promote campaigns.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with partners in the influencer community.
• Keep creators updated on new releases and foster a collaborative network.
Admin & Team Support
• Liaise with our legal team to coordinate contract creation (e.g. for content creators, photographers, and competition T&Cs).
• Provide general support to the wider team, including assistance at events and occasional errands.
Continuous Learning:
• Stay updated on emerging social media and content trends, digital marketing techniques, and industry developments.
• Experiment with new formats and channels to enhance content effectiveness.
What you’ll bring
• 3+ years of experience in creative content services in music or entertainment industry.
• Expert user of content creation tools and software, as well as in-app creation tools on TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, etc.
• Strong understanding of fan behaviour, online culture, and artist-brand storytelling
• Expert social understanding and breadth across networks and platforms – a clear understanding of best practice for content on each platform and for different audiences.
• Excellent eye for detail, expert in graphic design and editing software including Adobe Creative Cloud
• End to End workflow
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Enthusiast of keeping educated and up to date with trends and innovation in the social media ecosystem.
