About the Role

Sydney Local Health District has a long and proud history of delivering care in the community including prevention, early intervention, assessment, treatment, health maintenance and continuing care services designed to improve and support the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.


The Harm Reduction Program provides a number of services that aim to reduce the transmission of blood borne viruses. This includes the Needle and Syringe Program, which is an evidence based public health program that provides sterile injecting equipment, peer support and healthcare navigation to people who inject drugs. Additionally, the Primary Health Care service offers multidisciplinary assessment, treatment and referral for vulnerable people including those who inject drugs.

Ideal Candidate

  • Must hold a Bachelor degree in Social Work or equivalent that provides eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  • Knowledge, skills and clinical experience in drug and alcohol practice and the provision of services.


  • Commitment to professional development, evidence based practice and continuous improvement.


  • Ability to analyse problems, set priorities and apply a range of options to develop solutions.
