Primary objective
Contribute to reprocessing of Dental Reusable Medical Devices (RMD) complying with AS 5369:2023, aiming to achieve
high-quality sterilisation service in line with Oral Health Services (OHS) departmental policies and procedures and National
Standards.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Assist in quality reprocessing of Dental Reusable Medical Devices and perform required duties within the reprocessing
Environment.
2. Provide coaching and mentoring of Oral Health dental assistants, clinicians, students and agency staff classifications.
3. Maintain consumables storage in Sterilising Area in Oral Health Service clinics and assist with regular stocktakes.
4. Undertake routine process monitoring and maintain records for the Quality Management System according to the
recommendations of AS 5369:2023.
5. Comply with National Infection Control Standards, Policies and Procedures to ensure patient and employee safety.
6. Adhere to the defined quality services standards, Work Health and Safety policies and procedures and enhance safety and
quality practices.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Recognised qualifications in Sterilisation (Certificate III in Sterilising Services) or working towards it.
2. Experience working in a sterilising unit or in health care setting.
3. Knowledge of Infection Control and Quality Assurance Processes and Workplace Health and Safety.
4. Good communication skills to deal with professional staff of all levels and the ability to record and convey messages accurately.
5. Good organisation and time management skills and basic computer skills.
6. Ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures and work within a multidisciplinary team.
7. Ability to adhere to work health safety policies and procedures related to the sterilising unit.
Desirable
1. An understanding of the provision of oral health services in the NT.
