About the role

Lead the daily operations of the Community Recycling Centre, ensuring a well-maintained facility and exceptional customer service for the community. This role requires strong coordination, flexibility and decision-making capabilities to manage planned and unplanned tasks whilst maintaining high operational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist facility users with the waste sorting, respond to inquiries and complaints and provide recycling education to promote resource recovery.
  • Oversee daily operations, including planned and reactive tasks, resource allocation and maintaining service standards.
  • Implement emergency response plans, manage hazardous waste incidents and ensure workplace health and safety compliance
  • Mentor and support staff, identify training needs and ensure adherence to Council policies and procedures.
  • Maintain waste volume records, liaise with contractors, track KPIs, and drive operational improvements for efficiency and sustainability.

About You
We are looking for a leader with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Management or similar (Minimum certificate IV required)
  • Current C Class License
  • Current Forklift License
  • White Card
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in management in a leadership/ supervisory position.
  • Extensive experience in leading teams, staff management and overseeing operational facilities and contracts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle escalations, negotiate effectively, and drive positive resolutions
  • Ability to research, develop, and implement waste minimisation initiatives, including contract and tender management.
  • Skilled in planning, report writing, costing estimates, and delivering detailed recommendations to Council.

What’s on offer

The Community Recycling centre operates 6-days per week. This role will require you to work 5 days per week, including Saturdays.

Hours: 6am-3:00pm


We are offering an attractive remuneration from $113,019 to $124,433 plus 11.5% superannuation.
