Position Information

Yanco Agricultural High School is a selective, coeducational, fully residential school with a projected 2026 student enrolment of 350 students who reside across all of New South Wales and in some cases interstate. Located in the New South Wales Riverina, 12km from Leeton, the school has 280 hectares, including 180 hectares of intensive irrigation and dry land agriculture and is bordered by the Murrumbidgee River.

On the school grounds students have access to tennis courts, a gymnasium, swimming pool, ten hectares of sporting ovals, after-hours library and resource centre, as well as a host of individual and team activities at school and in the local community. The school has outstanding agricultural facilities and is a leader in agricultural education. Programs include show stock teams in sheep, beef cattle, equine and poultry who travel extensively and provide additional opportunities for students to excel in this area of interest.

The school has a diverse range of staff who support both the day and residential component of the school. The School Excellence Plan identifies a focus on improving literacy and numeracy skills, HSC achievement, student wellbeing, high potential and gifted education, as well as enhancing educational aspiration. The school community is invested in working in partnership with the school to develop and deliver on a common vision where every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential in the premier agricultural high school in New South Wales.


Selection Criteria

Approval to teach English and History.
Capacity to differentiate learning experiences to engage, challenge and inspire a diverse range of learners in order for them to achieve academic growth.
Ability to effectively manage the classroom and to implement effective teaching and learning practices, in an innovative learning environment.
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and the community, including a willingness to contribute to whole school programs.


Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Applicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application.
Special conditions cover staff appointments to residential agricultural high schools.
