Position Information
Oberon High School has an enrolment of 208 students, including 25 identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, serves the town and surrounding districts of semi-industrial rural Oberon. The small and friendly school provides a broad curriculum in collaboration with its community, preparing students for both academic and vocational pathways.
The school encourages and rewards student achievement across a wide range of areas, as well as supporting student wellbeing through a variety of programs. The school's excellent facilities are extended by significant use of adjacent community facilities including sporting fields, an indoor tennis complex and a heated swimming pool.
The school has great support from community with school programs supported by local business and industry whilst there is valuable sponsorship from groups who wish to assist individual students achieve to their best.
Oberon High School runs a compressed Stage 6 curriculum and has done this since 2015. This alternate system for HSC completion has been successful at our school and allows a far broader curriculum choice for students.
Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Science and Biology.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty members to develop, implement and evaluate programs that support student growth.
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish positive working relationships with students, staff and parents to improve student learning outcomes.
