Position Information

Merrylands High School is a comprehensive coeducational secondary school (enrollment 850 students, including 82% students from a non-English speaking background). The school’s strategic directions are, Student Growth and Attainment, Collaborative Practices in Numeracy and Attendance and Connection. There is a strong focus on academic achievement, student engagement, Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL), innovative technology, meaningful community participation and whole school professional learning aligned to the school’s strategic directions.


Selection Criteria

Approval to teach Technology Mandatory 7-8 and Industrial Technology – Timber. Approval to teach or preparedness to undertake VET teacher training in Construction, providing the qualification entry benchmark is met.

Demonstrated capacity to contribute to faculty and whole school programs.

Highly developed interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to work in a team.

Expertise in teaching learners from a low SES background and with a language background other than English.


Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Applicants seeking either permanent full time or permanent part time employment are encouraged to apply for this position. If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE. Applicants on the eligibility list will be offered the remaining FTE but are not obliged to accept. Further information can be found on the merit selection webpage.
