About the Role
As the Training and Capability Lead, you’ll lead DON’s Castlemaine-based training and capability function, responsible for ensuring employees are supported with the right learning experiences at the right time.
You’ll own the end-to-end delivery of onboarding, role-based training, and development programs that enable people to work safely and perform at their best. This role includes oversight of frontline capability, leadership development, compliance learning, audit readiness, and the site’s learning management system. You’ll be in a key position to real value to our operations through enhanced capability development.
The role also leads a small training team and delivers core operational programs such as Frontline Leadership training
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a training and capability strategy aligned with business goals
- Lead daily training operations, ensuring compliance and audit readiness
- Design and deliver key programs (e.g. Frontline Leadership, onboarding, compliance) to build and enhance workforce capability, including leading and supporting national and training initiatives.
- Coach and lead a small team of training coordinators and LMS system administrator. Oversee the DON learning management system
- Coordinate training activities across a large manufacturing environment
- Maintain training compliance activity
- Facilitate engaging training sessions and continuously improve content

About You
You are an experienced Training leader with:
- People leadership experience, ideally in a training or capability function
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or progress towards (required)
- Experience working in manufacturing, food, or safety-critical industries (ideal)
- Strong project and stakeholder management capability
- Experience with LMS systems, audit readiness and training record compliance
- Facilitation and content development skills across leadership and technical topics
- A proactive, people-first mindset with a strong focus on operational improvement
