About the role
St Anthony's Catholic College, Deeragun is seeking a dedicated Tuckshop Assistant to commence Term 4, 7 October 2025 to 6 December 2025 . This role is a Term Time, Fixed Term position working 16.5 hours per week, (5.5 hours/day)
The purpose of the Tuckshop Assistant is to contribute to the effective and efficient operation and environment of the College by providing a high level of Tuckshop operational support. Typical duties performed may include but are not limited to:
- Lead voluntary staff under authority from the Tuckshop Convenor
- Set a tone of friendliness and high standards of personal conduct in the tuckshop as per Townsville Catholic Education Office Staff Code of Conduct.
- Order and organise all food prepared and sold as per Tuckshop Convenor instructions.
- Follow all required legislative & policy procedures in relation to food preparation and in regards cleanliness and hygiene in the Tuckshop.
- Responsibility for Tuckshop equipment.
- Responsibility for Tuckshop cleanliness.
- Other duties as required by the Tuckshop Convenor or Business Manager.
- Effectively assist with the day-to-day operations of the tuckshop including daily opening and closing procedures
- Support special event days and other catered school functions as required.
About you
- Experience with quality and nutritional value of Tuckshop menu
- Ability to provide customer satisfaction (students, staff, broader school community)
- Experience in risk minimisation – related to all WHS and other compliance requirements
- Ability to work in a high volume, time constrained food preparation environment.
- Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills
- High level of initiative and openness to new technology and processes
- WHS awareness and knowledge of “Smart Choices” Nutrition Program for schools or similar.
- Skills and experience in food preparation and knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
- An ability to communicate with a range of staff across primary and secondary school settings
- A demonstrated ability to develop and sustain productive working relationships.
Mandatory Criteria/Professional Registration/Other
- Current Working with Children Suitability Card - The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government.
- Undertake Workplace Health and Safety Training
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Ability to travel within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner
- Food Handler Training or the ability to attain
- This position will be subject to a pre-employment medical assessment to support the selection process.
