The team
The Digital team, part of ASIC's Digital, Data & Technology Office, includes areas such as Regulatory Systems, Digital Communications, and the Human Centred Design (HCD) Hub.
The HCD Hub is an enterprise-wide service driving ASIC's goal to be a digitally enabled, data-informed regulator. It delivers service design and UX/UI expertise, collaborating closely with product owners, project managers, and business teams to implement user-focused, compliant solutions and processes.
The role
The role will provide UX and UI design leadership across ASIC programs and projects. A significant role is to continue to embed best practice UX and UI design into delivery projects and demonstrate the benefits of design utilising a highly collaborative, pragmatic and co-design approach.
An important responsibility and opportunity are to ensure consistent and high quality UX and UI outputs that serve delivery teams including product owners to design user centred compliant products and services that are also feasible and viable. To achieve this you will demonstrate your advanced UX/UI expertise and support & coach UX designers to execute the work. You will create a highly supportive environment for UX/UI Designers to grow and develop their skills and capabilities delivering on the HCD Hub quality assurance process
In this role you will be coordinating and facilitating workshops and meetings with product owners and other delivery squad members including Senior stakeholders to support the identification and execution of project deliverables, this includes meeting deadlines and adapting the UX/UI outputs
Role responsibilities will also involve the following:
- Day to day management of all UX and UI staff across all projects
- Be across the detail of all UX and UI outputs, in charge of quality assurance
- Provide support to design streams, across packages and business units
- Manage upstream stakeholders in surfacing design, best practice and design need
- Work closely with HCD HUB lead counterparts to ensure that knowledge and approaches are shared ongoingly.
About you
A successful applicant should possess the following:
- A minimum of ten years' experience in a UX/UI Design lead role in organisations experiencing digital transformation
- Extensive experience in embedding design within an organisation and working across complex and dynamic projects and products, able to thrive and progress work even when there is high ambiguity
- Extensive experience in managing, supporting and influencing a broad range of stakeholders including senior sponsors and business owners in a highly collaborative and impactful way.
- Advanced capability to communicate outputs and benefits in a highly impact and visual way that supports decision making and work to progress.
- Extensive experience in working with a Design system as well as having been involved with the formation of a design system within an organisation.
- Expert-level ability with Figma, ability to provide training and guidance to more junior team members or those less experienced in Figma
- Foundational understanding of modern front end stacks included CSS, HTML etc
- Demonstrated ability in developing a design system led culture and providing stakeholder and organisational wide promotion, upskilling and training
- Contribute to a high-performing, collaborative team culture focused on continuous learning and improvement.
- Driven to constantly enhance and deliver exceptional experiences for users
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Have extensive knowledge of A11y and WCAG
