AVAC Services is seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Veteran Support Officer to join our team in assisting veterans with the administration of MRCA-related benefits. This role is ideal for a former DVA Incapacity Delegate, or someone with deep familiarity in incapacity claims, medical reimbursements, travel expenses, and household services support under the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004 (MRCA).
About the Role:
As a Veteran Support Officer, you will play a vital role in helping veterans navigate the ongoing supports available to them under MRCA. You will liaise with clients, prepare supporting documentation, and ensure timely submission and follow-up of claims related to incapacity payments, treatment reimbursements, travel claims, and household services.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist clients in preparing and lodging MRCA claims for:
- Incapacity Payments
- Medical Treatment Reimbursements
- DVA Travel Claims
- Household Services and Support
- Review supporting documentation, assist with financial evidence collection, and liaise with stakeholders.
- Track and manage claims within our CRM.
- Provide clear communication and education to clients regarding their entitlements.
- Collaborate with AVAC Case Managers to ensure clients receive holistic and coordinated care.
About You:
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Experienced: Prior experience within DVA, particularly as an Incapacity Delegate, is highly desirable.
- Client-Focused: You take pride in guiding others through complex systems with empathy and professionalism.
- Detail-Oriented: You thrive in administrative processes and documentation accuracy.
- Dependable: You manage deadlines, follow-up tasks, and stakeholder communications reliably.
- Mission-Aligned: You value the service of veterans and are committed to supporting them with integrity.
Essential Skills and Attributes:
- Strong administrative, case processing, or government liaison experience.
- High level of written and verbal communication.
- Excellent organisational skills and follow-through.
- Emotional maturity when working with sensitive or trauma-related content.
- Knowledge of MRCA entitlements and DVA systems (preferred but not essential with relevant transferable experience).
