Visiting Medical Officer – Paediatrics – Wollongong Hospital


We are seeking a dedicated Paediatrician to join Wollongong Hospital as a Visiting Medical Officer. Join a vibrant team of paediatricians and experience some excellent general paediatrics.

The Paediatrician will provide expert and high-quality medical assessment and management of patients within the Paediatric Service. The Paediatrician is responsible for the provision of specialist paediatric services to emergency patients, inpatients and outpatients at Wollongong Hospital.

The service encompasses the provision of care to the paediatric and neonatal patients in the emergency department, post-natal ward, neonatal unit, children's ward and Paediatric Ambulatory unit of Wollongong Hospital.

The Paediatrician will provide advice and support to Shellharbour Emergency Department and Bulli Urgent Care Centre regarding paediatric and neonatal patients presenting to these services.

The Paediatrician will proactively:

  • Support the development of paediatric neonatal services
  • Support and facilitate a culture of learning and best practice
  • Support and develop paediatric research and quality improvement within the department

Advanced Trainees expecting to receive Fellowship of the RACP within 6 months may be considered for this role.

Wollongong Hospital, located on Dharawal Country, is the Illawarra Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed-base count of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.
