EL 1 Communications Manager

AFMA is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic communications professional to lead and manage a small team to deliver short and long-term communication projects for AFMA.

The successful candidate will play a role in supporting the Agency to shape and deliver effective communication strategies and programs that reflect AFMA’s strategic objectives.

The Communications Manager is responsible for leading a small team in:

  • proactively delivering the AFMA Communication Plan 2020 – 2022, through a range of channels including social media, media management and engagement, communications strategies, website, intranet and editorial.
  • developing, implementing, and evaluating communication strategies, including the bi-annual AFMA Communication Plan, operating under the AFMA Stakeholder Engagement Strategy,
  • media management, monitoring and liaison,
  • issues management,
  • providing advice and support to AFMA staff, including the Executive and Commission, and
  • management of AFMA’s communication channels both internal and external.

In this position, you will have exposure to the entirety of AFMA’s operations, the ability to work directly with the AFMA Executive and will have the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to AFMA’s strategic direction.

  • AFMA staff are employed under the Australian Public Service Act 1999. All applicants must be Australian citizens.
  • Applicant must hold or have the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance.
  • Qualifications in communications/media, or progress towards such a qualification, and/or relevant experience in a related field.
