WHAT ARE WE OFFERING?

We’re offering an exciting ongoing full-time opportunity to join the Aboriginal Health Directorate as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner (Trainee). Based at Mount Barker Hospital, this role will support Aboriginal patients across hospital and outpatient settings, ensuring culturally safe care is embedded in everything we do. As part of your traineeship, you’ll receive supervision and support while working toward your qualifications, gaining the experience you need to become a registered Aboriginal Health Practitioner.

You’ll work within a strong Aboriginal Health Team that respects cultural knowledge, supports professional development, and is committed to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal people.

WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED TO KNOW/WHAT IS ESSENTIAL FOR SUCCESS?

Working in this environment, it is important to us that we only employ people with the upmost integrity and commitment to serving the South Australian community and its visitors to the highest possible standards. To ensure that we meet that commitment there are a few checks that you will be required to undertake. These are detailed on the Role Description, but are likely to include the following:

  • You will need to be immunised. Please contact the Enquiries Person for this position if you have any queries. Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy. Further information is in the application for to help guide you.
  • You will need to undergo employment screening, what you require is also on the front page of the Role Description.
  • You must hold Certificate III in Aboriginal Primary Health Care, or equivalent, or be Enrolled in Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice)
