About the Role

We are seeking applications for Part /Full Time Fixed Term (Parental Leave).

No weekend work and roster may also change to assist with leave cover throughout the period. The role is responsible for responding to incoming calls and emails, processing referrals, scheduling appointments, managing wait list referrals, attending clinic and data entry. The successful incumbents require excellent communication and customer service skills in addition to intermediate computer skills.


This new community mental health hub will provide a diverse range of Mental Health services previously offered at a number of different sites and will provide a more tailored service for consumers consistent with recent Royal Commission Recommendations. This role will support the Clayton Mobile Support and Treatment Team, Community Care Teams (CCTs), the Hospital Outreach Post-suicidal Engagement (HOPE) team, the Mobile Support and Treatment Team and the Acute Community Intervention Services (ACIS) team. CCTs provide treatment and support to individuals experiencing complex mental health problems. The aim is to promote self-efficacy and independence, and social inclusion with all individuals we support. The Hospital Outreach Post-suicidal Engagement (HOPE) initiative provides psycho-social support for people from 18 years old who are identified as having presented with a suicidal or self-harm attempt, or suicidal or intentional self-harm ideation. The Mobile Support and Treatment Team provides intensive home and community based rehabilitation services for people with a mental illness and associated decline in psychosocial functioning who require more support than that available through clinic based case management. The Acute Community Intervention Services (ACIS) have a key role in deciding the most appropriate treatment option, initial assessment, recommendation on treatment options, provide short community based acute treatment, where required, can provide public hospital admission. This service is provided via community clinics, home based, or via emergency department based at Monash Clayton.


About You

Communication skills and teamwork are extremely important in this role as you will be working in a diverse team. You are a proactive and experienced healthcare administrator who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. Working in a community environment doesn’t faze you and you are able to maintain and demonstrate integrity, compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence. You will also demonstrate:

  • General clerical and/or administrative skills

  • Medical terminology knowledge

  • Excellent computer skills and a willingness to learn new software packages.

  • Knowledge of iPM/SMR/CMI or similar patient management systems

  • The ability to adapt in a changing environment to meet demands.

  • Friendly and helpful customer service and communication skills

  • Proven organisational skills and can work autonomously.

  • Demonstrable ability to manage a range of administration responsibilities across a number of areas.

  • A quality focus whilst ensuring work is completed within the required timeframes.

  • A flexible approach to staggered start and finish times

  • As well as advanced verbal, written and interpersonal skills involving good use of English are required. Time management skills are essential, including capacity to prioritise effectively to meet the requirements of the position.
