This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing, with the employment type to be determined in negotiation with the preferred candidate and the NIAA delegate.

Where a non-ongoing specified term is offered, this would be for an initial period of up to 12 months, with possibility of extension up to a maximum period of two years.

A non-ongoing offer may result in conversion to an ongoing offer of employment, however this must occur within 18 months from the opening date of this advertisement.

The Opportunity

We are the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA), and our role is to deliver the Australian Government’s commitment to improve the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The NIAA is a national team with multiple locations across Australia. We have current ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies in Brisbane and Cairns. Other locations may be considered. Full training is provided.

The Grants Management Unit (GMU) provides a supportive environment to assist you to learn the specifics of the role. The role of the Grant Agreement Manager includes the following duties and is expected to be conducted with a broad degree of self-direction:

  • oversee and manage agreements with varying levels of complexity and identify potential risks to relevant internal stakeholders when appropriate
  • draft new funding agreements and variations to existing agreements
  • undertake assessments of performance reports and financial acquittals
  • apply sound judgement and make evidence-based decisions aligned to the operating environment and legislative frameworks
  • engage with internal (Regional Offices, Program and Policy Areas) and external (grant recipients) stakeholders regarding the management of agreements
  • assist to plan and coordinate team workflow to ensure even distribution and management of priorities
  • contribute to monitoring and reporting on team deliverables ensuring quality is maintained
  • undertake reviews using internal quality assurance and continuous improvement processes
  • identify opportunities to enhance team performance in an environment of collaboration, continuous improvement and change.
