The Position
This is a key role in a friendly, motivated team at the Australian Phenomics Facility (APF) providing laboratory animal care and technical support to research teams in the John Curtin School of Medical Research (JCSMR).
This role is integral to the support of the JCSMR research groups by providing high quality, best practice animal care to ensure the highest standards of animal welfare and biosecurity. Animal Technicians are responsible for providing daily care, monitoring and maintenance of laboratory animals and equipment within the Animals Services division. The successful applicant will be able to work in fast-paced environment, understand the importance of following procedures, will have demonstrated good attention to detail, accurate record-keeping skills and the capacity to work effectively in a team environment.
The Person
We are looking for a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to quickly develop productive, professional relationships with colleagues and clients. Highly developed organisational skills and effective self-management are key. Experience working in science or animal care are desirable.
This position is not suitable for candidates who have a rodent allergy.
