About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Mechanical Fitter to join our Mackay mechanical workshop, assisting our tradesmen in mechanical maintenance, service, repairs, and assembly of conveyor systems and components while working towards your trade qualification.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Read and interpret technical drawings to support fabrication and assembly tasks
- Assist in mechanical fitting work, including gearbox and motor alignment, laser alignment, and coupling fitment/removal
- Maintain and ensure tools and machinery are effectively managed
- Work alongside qualified Mechanical Fitters during mechanical assembly tasks, support the assembly of conveyor components
- Perform work to specifications and high-quality standards
- Apply and follow safe working procedures and practices at all times
- Keep the workshop clean and organized
- Contribute to 100% Safe Behaviours and Conditions by reporting near misses and hazards
- Communicate and escalate issues to the Workshop Supervisor
This 4-year apprenticeship will enable you to obtain a Certificate III in Engineering-Mechanical trade which will be a mixture of practical hands-on experience and attendance to TAFE to achieve this qualification. To be successful upon application you will have:
- A valid driver’s licence
- A strong mechanical aptitude and eagerness to develop technical skills
- Sound communication and numerical skills
- A self-starter attitude, with a commitment to safety and quality
- A positive mindset, willingness to learn, and dedication to complete the apprenticeship
