About the Centre
The Hawthorn Aquatic and Leisure Centre (HALC) is one of 4 facilities in Boroondara, and is owned by City of Boroondara and managed proudly by The Y. The facility contains a 750m2 Health Club, 3 program rooms, an outdoor 50m pool, indoor pool, café, sauna, and child care services. HALC is committed to fostering a welcoming and engaging environment for people of all backgrounds, We have an incredibly positive workforce culture, all working towards the common goal of helping our community.
About the Role
As our aqua instructor, you will be responsible for leading a variety of Aqua Exercise classes and coaching a wide range of clients through your sessions. You must have exceptional communication skills to effectively inform and demonstrate the benefits of participating in our classes. You must also be organised to ensure that our classes run smoothly and efficiently. Candidates with experience in establishing well planned Deep Water and Gentle Water exercise classes will be highly regarded.
This is a casual position, with an hourly rate up to $70.38 + Super & Y benefits.
About You
You’re fun and energetic with a passion for fitness and aqua aerobics. You will possess exceptional communication skills and can effectively motivate and inspire clients to achieve their fitness goals through Aqua Exercise classes. You will have a deep understanding of various training styles and methods, and can cater to the needs of a wide range of clients during our classes and be able to develop rapport with our community.
Our ideal candidate is also highly organised, able to manage their time effectively, and can ensure the smooth running of our classes.
Above all, you will be a team player who can bring your own positive energy and enthusiasm to our team! You will need experience in taking Aqua Exercise classes to be successful in this role.

- Aqua Exercise Instructor Skillset
- HLTAID009- Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
- HLTAID011- Provide First Aid
