About the position
Level A research only academic is expected to carry out team research within the relevant field and carry out activities to develop their research expertise relevant to the particular field of research.
The successful candidate will primarily work on research relating to Artificial Intelligence in the diagnosis of skin cancers for ‘RISE4SkinCancer’ (Regionally Integrated Systems Enhancement for Skin Cancer): a solution-focused approach to integrating care.
The aim of this program is to improve the diagnosis and management of people with skin cancer in the Loddon Mallee Region (LMR) by developing and testing a model that builds primary care capacity and improves access to care in a financially viable, cost-effective manner. In doing so, RISE4SkinCancer plans to improve the quality of life for people living in the LMR with skin cancer and provide valuable evidence to narrow the unacceptable gap in skin cancer mortality and morbidity between rural and metropolitan Australians.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have;
- Completion of a Master’s degree or a PhD in AI or computer science or other relevant discipline, and evidence of participation in higher level study relevant to discipline or professional area.
- Evidence of experience in research and evaluation and the ability to work effectively under limited supervision or independently.
- A record of contribution to publications, conference papers and/or reports, or professional or technical contributions which provide evidence of research potential.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team in a cooperative and collegial manner.
- Demonstrated understanding of AI in healthcare.
