The Hive Early Learning Centre is a childcare centre and kindergarten, offering care to children from 6 weeks to 6 years. We are a 99 place, two-storey centre nestled in Melbourne’s southeast, offering a prime location just minutes from the bustling Chadstone Shopping Centre. Our centre is surrounded by leafy parks and is conveniently close to public transport and major roadways. This ideal setting provides a peaceful yet accessible environment for families and staff in the vibrant Ashburton community.
The Early Childhood Assistant works closely with qualified Early Childhood Educators and the Centre Director to deliver a dynamic and engaging educational program. The role involves creating a warm, flexible, and safe environment for children's growth, engaging with children and families, providing administrative support, and participating in staff meetings to contribute to the development of the centre.
Role responsibilities
- Assist with planning and implementing activities and observing children’s development to guide learning.
- Ensure children’s safety, supervise activities, maintain a hazard-free space, and assist with transitions.
- Provide tailored support for children with additional needs, fostering independence, problem-solving, and social skills.
- Build trust with children through play, emotional support, and encouraging positive social interactions.
- Assist with behaviour strategies, promoting respect and conflict resolution.
- Work with educators and staff, attend meetings and assist with classroom setup and cleanup.
- Maintain positive relationships with families, share updates and support family involvement.
- Help maintain records of children’s progress, attendance, behaviour, and incidents.
Role skills/competencies:
- Strong written communication skills
- Demonstrated confidence in guiding documentation related to children's learning and development.
Experience and Knowledge:
- ACECQA-approved qualification.
- Passion for working with Nursery-aged children.
- Commitment to child safety and development.
- Valid First Aid, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis Training.
- Working with Children Check and Mandatory Reporting.
- Australian working rights.
