Primary objective
Lead and manage the development and delivery of system-wide employee wellbeing and engagement initiatives across the Department
of Corrections. Collaborate and partner with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate integrated responses to the wellbeing strategy
to improve employee wellbeing, engagement, resilience, retention and safety of the workforce.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide advice and guidance on wellbeing strategies, plans, tools and practices that support resilience-building, psychosocial risk
management, and foster a positive organisational culture to enhance employee physical and mental wellbeing.
2. Research and collaborate with the DoC College, other internal and across government stakeholders and service providers to guide
the development and implementation of wellbeing, engagement and workforce retention initiatives.
3. Lead, influence and mentor managers to adopt effective wellbeing and leadership practices to improve workforce engagement and
retention aligned to the wellbeing strategy and action plans.
4. In collaboration with other agencies undertake detailed analysis of DoC workforce needs, changes and future requirements to ensure
strategies aimed at wellbeing and improved workforce engagement meets the Department’s specific needs.
5. Partner with managers, NT Government agencies and providers for improved management capabilities for leaders and address more
complex wellbeing and leadership programs and practices for specialist positions.
6. Ensure the delivery of services is effectively procured, monitored, measured, evaluated and reported in accordance with departmental
and NTG policies, and relevant legislation.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven experience in developing and implementing workforce strategies including workforce development or wellbeing strategies,
plans, and activities in an operational 24/7 environment.
2. Highly developed interpersonal, communication (oral and written), negotiation, influencing, and collaboration skills, with the
demonstrated ability to establish and sustain productive working relationships across the region, and with other key internal and
external stakeholders.
3. Knowledge of contemporary best practices in workforce engagement and wellbeing, with a proven ability to develop and implement
programs that improve and maintain physical and mental health in the workplace.
4. Well-developed judgement, conceptual and analytical ability including the ability to analyse data, policy, and legislation to produce
meaningful reports, plans, and strategies.
5. High level self-management, motivation, and organisational ability, including managing competing priorities.
6. Proven performance providing high level client services and developing productive working partnerships with a diverse range of
clients.
7. Demonstrated ability to respond positively to change with a commitment to ongoing improvement and the skills to contribute as an
effective team member.
Desirable
1. Relevant tertiary qualification in workforce development, human resource management, or a related field.
