Position Information

Coreen School is a School for Specific Purposes (SSP), located in Western Sydney. Coreen School provides intensive educational and behavioural support for students in need. The school's programs focus on literacy, numeracy and social communication and interaction skills, and optimal student outcomes are achieved in partnership with key stakeholders. Students at Coreen School present with diverse, complex and dynamic needs. To be successful at our core business, our policies, practices and programs are continuously reviewed to ensure students' needs are being addressed and students are being provided with optimal support and opportunity to improve and achieve. Students engage in curriculum that is differentiated for individual learning needs. Additional literacy and numeracy support is provided based on student learning data. Fostering strong partnerships with caregivers, TAFE and local businesses allows students to participate in opportunities that will support their success post school.


Selection Criteria

  • Approval to teach Special Education and/or expert experience teaching students with complex emotional and behavioural needs, demonstrating appropriate curriculum modification to support student learning
  • High level communication and outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to support the principal and build teacher capacity to maximise the learning and wellbeing of every student.
  • Proven leadership experience working within a multidisciplinary team to effectively manage complex issues and competing priorities to support students, staff, families and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in connecting with community and implementing culturally appropriate programs to improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student outcomes

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy


Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
