Associate Director, Spatial Analytics and Insights, Ongoing, Sydney
This role is a salary Grade 11/12, with the base salary for this role starting at $145,378 - $168,130 base plus superannuation, commensurate with experience.

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Associate Director, Spatial Analytics and Insights, who will lead the organisation’s spatial analytics and insights function to support coordinated and robust infrastructure decision-making, informed by specialist Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and visual analytical tools and insights.
Some of the key accountabilities for the role include:
- Establish the organisation’s specialist data analytics and GIS visualisation function and build organisational capacity to support robust and coordinated infrastructure planning and decision making.
- Lead the delivery of high-quality cartographic maps, reports and data visualisations that underpin decision-making and strategic approaches to planning and delivery activities (for both technical and non-technical audiences).
- Establish digital tools and processes that support self-serve mapping and visual analytics capabilities.
- Lead data preparation and validation, ensuring effective and efficient storage of spatial data to ensure project teams have access to up-to-date spatial datasets
About You
The ideal candidate should have:
- Demonstrated experience in providing specialist technical spatial analytics and insights support to an organisation and developing agency capability in this domain.
- Demonstrated experience in leveraging GIS mapping and spatial data analytics technology to support urban analytics, infrastructure and land use planning outcomes by leveraging these tools to convey key messages (particularly to non-technical audiences).
- Demonstrated experience in the use of geospatial software and tools including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, QGIS, PostGIS, Microsoft Access, Infogram, Power BI, Carto.
- Experience configuring and managing web maps, including experience building models and scripts for automation.
- Advanced use of Office 365 especially Sharepoint, OneDrive, Power Query and Data Models.
- Tertiary qualifications in GIS, Urban Planning, Urban Analytics, Infrastructure, or a relevant discipline / equivalent relevant experience.
