As a Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities by working collaboratively with participants, their support teams, and caregivers. Your primary responsibility will be to develop intervention plans and recommendations, with a focus on enhancing the overall quality of life for participants.
We are looking for applicants to cover the Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast & Gympie regions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough functional behaviour assessments.
- Develop Positive Behaviour Support plans and provide training to staff, carers, and participants for effective plan implementation.
- Assist participants in addressing underlying causes of challenging behaviours, aiming to minimize their occurrence and impact on daily life.
- Work towards reducing or eliminating the use of restrictive practices.
Performance Measures:
- Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Experience in completing behavioural assessments and developing or implementing behaviour support plans for NDIS participants.
- Thorough knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support approaches.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise initiative.
- Commitment to providing client-focused service in a timely, consistent, coordinated, and flexible manner.
- Knowledge of appropriate current outcome-based assessment tools.
- Demonstrated understanding of ongoing challenges associated with living with a disability at various life stages
Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelor qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or an Allied Health field.
- Primary form of ID and secondary form(s) of ID with a value equal to 100 points of ID.
- Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check (or the ability to obtain).
- Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Program.
Desirable:
- Current registration with AHPRA/AASW, or other governing body.
- Experience working with individuals who engage in behaviours of concern.
- Training in positive behaviour support or similar.
- Previous experience in completing behavioural assessments and developing positive behaviour support plans for NDIS participants.
- Already considered suitable under the NDIS Positive Behaviour Support Capability framework, or able to meet the requirements for application.
