Job Opportunity: Behaviour Support Practitioner (Proficient+) – Maternity Leave Cover (Part-Time)
Location: Flexible/Remote (must be Sunshine Coast based)
Hours: 10 hours per week (maternity leave cover), flexible hours for secondary role
Contract: 6-month maternity leave cover. No contract timeframe for secondary role.

Are you a Proficient or Advanced/Specialist Behaviour Support Practitioner looking to contribute your expertise in a meaningful and flexible part-time role?
We’re seeking a passionate and experienced practitioner to step into a maternity leave cover position, providing leadership, supervision, and expert guidance to a dynamic team of entry-level and core practitioners. This is a unique opportunity to bring your clinical knowledge and management skills into a supportive and values-driven environment.
About the Role:
This dual-role position combines senior responsibilities with a manageable behaviour support caseload. Please note holding a caseload is optional but preferred.
Primary (Maternity Leave Cover) Responsibilities:
- Provide professional supervision and line management to a team of 12 practitioners.
- Review Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs) for NDIS compliance and quality and co-sign.
- Support intake processes, triage new referrals, and respond to behaviour support service enquiries.
- Promote a positive, learning-oriented culture within the team.
Secondary Responsibilities (optional but preferred):
- Manage a small behaviour support caseload aligned to your availability and experience.
- Engage collaboratively with participants, families, and stakeholders to develop and implement quality PBSPs.
- Contribute to internal practice development and uphold person-centred, rights-based approaches.
About You:
- Considered suitable as a Behaviour Support Practitioner with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
- Endorsed as a Proficient or Advanced/Specialist level.
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Supervising or mentoring other practitioners.
- Developing and reviewing high-quality PBSPs.
- Working within a NDIS-funded service or similar framework.
- Strong knowledge of restrictive practices, ethical decision-making, and trauma-informed care.
- Confident communicator with excellent organisational and documentation skills.
- Able to work independently and flexibly, with strong time management.

Remuneration will be based on the Social, Community, Homecare & Disability Services Award for the maternity leave portion of this role and will be negotiated based on experience. Remuneration for the secondary role can be discussed.
