Have a meaningful impact on better environmental land management in the northwest of Victoria by becoming a Biodiversity Officer in the experienced Loddon Mallee regional Forest and Fire Planning Team. We are a creative and cohesive group that collaborate to find novel ways to ensure long-term environmentally sustainable outcomes.
The successful candidate will have a sound ecological understanding of Victoria's biodiversity and good technical data management and spatial software skills with excellent written and verbal communication style to deliver this information.
In this role you would undertakes biodiversity values assessments that contribute to regional Strategic Forest and Fire management on public land, most particularly State forest, ensuring we use the best available science to deliver these strategic approaches. You would also contribute to regional monitoring to further our understanding of environmental values.
You will also have the opportunity to build nationally accredited skills in Emergency Management.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience in program management with an emphasis on biodiversity, and threatened species and communities
- GIS and computer modelling skills
- Relevant degree in Biological Sciences or Natural Resource Management, or commensurate experience is desirable
This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is Flexible within the Barwon South West, Grampians, and Loddon Mallee Regions with hybrid work arrangements available.
