The Role
Reporting to the Project Manager, this role will see you lead and manage a team of skilled blasters and painters on a range of industrial and infrastructure projects. You'll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of surface preparation, coating application, and site safety while ensuring works are completed on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising on-site blasting and painting works with a strong focus on safety and quality
- Planning day-to-day site activities, including workforce coordination, materials, and equipment
- Conducting toolbox talks, pre-starts, and ensuring adherence to SWMS and project specifications
- Identifying and resolving technical or operational issues that may arise during site execution
- Liaising with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure seamless project delivery
- Maintaining accurate site records and contributing to reporting and project reviews
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a motivated, capable leader with a background in blast and paint projects—ideally within infrastructure, marine, or industrial environments. You’ll be someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes ownership of outcomes, and knows how to build team morale and deliver exceptional results under pressure.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- At least 5 years of experience in blasting and industrial coating (abrasive blasting, spray painting, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience in leading or supervising teams on industrial or infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of surface prep, coating systems, and quality assurance processes
- Solid commitment to safety, with experience implementing safe work practices on-site
- Trade qualifications or relevant industry tickets (e.g. NACE, ICorr, confined space, working at heights)
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility to travel if required for short periods to nearby project locations
