Your Role
This position sits within our Digital Commercial Insurance team and is responsible for the management of the Australian Business Pack portfolio including the development and implementation of business strategies to achieve agreed planned growth and profitability targets.
You will be a technical consultant to the business on all Business Pack products and have the ability to make decisions both independently and in collaboration with colleagues and/or managers, as well as coach and develop less experienced team members; to elevate technical knowledge and soft skills.
Your Responsibilities
- Maintain and develop all aspects of designated products including wordings, documentation, question sets, business rules and terms and conditions
- Direct the IT development and maintenance for designated products and channels, including product development and enhancements
- Maintain underwriting guidelines and drive consistency in underwriting quality
- Provide referral support and product and underwriting training to internal and external stakeholders
- Direct and influence Digital team priorities to maximise the profitable growth of Business Pack channels
- Actively contribute to producer relationships with regards to strategic initiatives, tenders, BAU issues and optimising platform KPI’s
- Ensure that Business Pack underwriting practices meet Chubb standards, through proper implementation of peer review, underwriting authority statements, underwriting audit and other quality control processes
- Assist with the monitoring of production, profitability, new business and retention targets so as to ensure that the portfolio is performing as per expectations and take action to address any current or potential risks to delivery of target results.
- Ensure sustainable levels of profitability for the portfolio through the underwriting cycle.
- Ensure that the levels of intermediary and customer service provided by the Business Pack team are in line with any agreed standards and support Chubb’s reputation in the market as a professional and service-oriented company
- Perform special projects and / or ad hoc tasks as assigned by the Leadership team
Communication
- Delivering product and capability presentations both internally and to Brokers and clients
- Preparing, delivering and negotiating quotations
- Reporting to department manager for growth, profitability, etc of assigned brokers & Accounts.
Coaching
- Taking referrals and providing training and guidance to less experienced staff.
Your Skills & Experience
- A relevant tertiary qualification or the equivalent business experience.
- In-depth experience in underwriting and management as evidenced by a minimum of 10 years insurance experience with specialisation in SME Package products.
- Demonstrated effective communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills so as to be capable of engaging with all levels of internal and external parties.
- Proven analytical skills necessary to judge the desirability of complex or unusual Property and Casualty risks.
- Demonstrated ability to reduce complex material and situations into understandable training modules, along with the ability to act as mentor to underwriting staff.
- Strong working knowledge of product distribution via market facing platforms, sales processes and product marketing.
- Strong working knowledge of underwriting, product pricing and profitability metrics and drivers.
