Job Description
We’re on the lookout for a hands-on, customer-focused Café Manager to lead the daily operations of our vibrant café at Oaks R Suites Geelong. This is an exciting opportunity to bring your leadership, creativity, and hospitality know-how to a high-performing team and deliver exceptional guest experiences in a stylish and welcoming environment.
About the role:
As Café Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind the café’s success ensuring a warm atmosphere, top-tier service, and strong operational results. You’ll lead a passionate team, manage day-to-day operations, and have the freedom to influence our food and beverage offering.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the café’s open/close procedures, maintain cleanliness and standards, and step in on barista and front-of-house duties as needed.
- Recruit, train, roster and mentor a high-performing front-of-house team, fostering a positive and service-driven culture.
- Manage budgets, cash handling, payroll, and supplier relationships with a commercial focus.
- Monitor stock levels, forecast needs, and maintain strong supplier communication to ensure smooth service.
- Collaborate on seasonal menus, guest specials, and signature items to keep the offering fresh and exciting.
- Work with Front Office Managers to identify ways to increase guest capture and boost café foot traffic.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of hospitality or café management experience
- A confident leader with strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Financially savvy with budgeting, payroll, and P&L experience
- Proficient in POS and inventory management systems
- Barista experience including espresso machine operation and basic latte art
- Food Safety Level 2 accreditation
- First Aid & CPR certified
- Certificate or higher in Hospitality Management or Business
- A proactive, hands-on manager with the ability to lead by example during peak service times
