About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Carpenter to join our Rollingstock Maintenance team at the Cairns (Portsmith) Depot, where you will provide carpentry maintenance services to the Kuranda Scenic Railway Operations and other areas of the Rollingstock Maintenance Depot.
Day-to-day responsibilities of this role will include, but are not limited to;
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs to carriages, supporting reliability and availability.
- Contribute to the Kuranda Scenic Railway Carriage Overhaul & Refurbishment Program.
- Participate in a semi-autonomous team environment, supporting safety, training, and depot operations.
- Ensure accurate data entry into maintenance systems and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Monitor and plan operational safety practices

To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must have the following:
- Certificate III in Carpentry.
- High-level skills in overhaul, refurbishment, maintenance, and fault finding on timber structures.
- Substantial experience working in semi-autonomous teams with minimal supervision.
- Sound knowledge of depot maintenance practices and procedures.
- Strong understanding of safety and environmental practices and procedures.
- Familiarity with quality management principles.
- Willingness to commit to and work within established procedures and standards.
Hours and Salary:
This position offers a 8-day fortnight roster. With the current roster, and allowances you have the potential to earn over $115,000 annually 12.75% superannuation.
