About The Role
As a Canteen Assistant at Bundamba State Secondary College, you will support the canteen convenor in preparing food, serving customers, and ensuring the smooth daily operation of the canteen. This part-time role involves working 50 hours per fortnight at 0.66 FTE. Your duties include handling cash transactions, restocking supplies, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety, contributing to a welcoming and efficient service for the school community.
Your Responsibilities
As the Canteen Assistant, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Provide quality canteen and catering customer service, including food production and preparation duties, counter service, clearing tables, and cleaning duties.
Assist with food preparation and packaging in accordance with food safety standards and daily menu plans.
Provide a clean, hygienic environment for the preparation, storage, and safe handling of food.
Operate the cash register, collect money from client groups, and assist with end-of-day cash reconciliation.
Follow Workplace Health and Safety practices to ensure that the canteen and equipment are operated and maintained safely and hygienically.
Promote a safe and secure environment for staff, students, and visitors.
Ensure any malfunctioning equipment is promptly reported to the canteen convenor using the appropriate paperwork.
Restock shelves, fridges, and storage areas as required.
Support volunteers and contribute positively to the canteen team environment.
Participate in team activities, professional development, and performance management processes.
Follow procedures related to food preparation and adhere to daily menu plans.
Perform other duties consistent with the position as directed by the supervisor or nominated delegate
