About the Role
As a Carer Coach, you'll deliver one-one-one and group coaching sessions that help carers build resilience, agency and hope. You'll support carers to explore their goals, reflect on their journey, and take practical steps toward wellbeing, all through a non-therapeutic, strengths-based approach.
Topics may include:
- Health and wellbeing
- Inclusion and advocacy
- Work, study, and volunteering
- Everyday life and finances
- Understanding the caring journey
We’re seeking someone who thrives in a reforming space and embraces change with confidence and flexibility. You’ll bring experience in community services, allied health or peer support, along with strong communication skills, emotional maturity and a trauma-informed approach.
Your ability to empower carers through active listening and smart goal setting will be essential, as will your familiarity with carer services such as the NDIS, My Aged Care, and mental health supports. A commitment to inclusion, self-reflection and continuous learning will ensure you succeed and grow in this role.
You will receive comprehensive training, mentoring and supervision. We’ll support your professional development and reflective practice, helping you grow as a coach and leader in your community.
Community engagement/ networking and establishing referral pathways will be a key aspect of this role and you will work autonomously while being a supportive and flexible team member.
Reporting to the Carer Coaching and In-person Peer Support Coordinator, the Carer Gateway Coach will be responsible for:
- Facilitating the program in accordance with training and the Facilitated Coaching Service Guidelines
- Facilitate one-one-one and group coaching to carers, to achieve the program’s required KPI’s
- Creating an environment Carers will find welcoming, real and empowering
- Ensure relationships with Carers are positive and are built on Wellways values
- Engaging professionally and positively with key external and internal stakeholders
- Community engagement/ networking and establishing referral pathways
Pre engagement requirements:
- Minimum Diploma in Coaching, Counselling, Community Services or related field
- Right to work within Australia
- Current valid Driver’s Licence and the ability to undertake some travel
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate (free online course)
- Satisfactory National Police Records Check
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working with Children's Check (Employee/Paid)
