About the role
We’re looking for an experienced skipper to support our maritime training and commercial operations on a casual basis. Based out of SEAMEC in Lakes Entrance, this role is ideal for someone who’s built a strong career in maritime and is now looking for flexible work that keeps them close to the industry.
You’ll skipper vessels for a range of commercial contracts, including Gippsland Lakes monitoring work, and may also assist with training delivery as part of our respected maritime team. This is hands-on, practical work with the backing of one of Victoria’s best-equipped maritime training facilities.

What you’ll need
- Minimum Coxswain Grade 1 NC with a minimum of 12 months of sea time (Mandatory)
- LK8 (Passenger carrying) – Local Knowledge Certificate for Lakes Entrance Bar (Passenger Carrying). If you don’t have this yet, you’ll need to complete it within an agreed timeframe.
- Strong practical experience with vessel operation, maintenance and marine safety
- Industry qualifications such as SROCP (Marine Radio) andcurrent First Aid HLTAID011
- Medically fit with current AMSA Certificate of Medical Fitness for Near Coastal Seafarers - AMSA 1850
- Current Working with Children Check (Victoria)
- National Police Check (within the last 12 months) Heavy Vehicle Driver’s licence – Light Rigid (LR) minimum
Highly desirable
- Master up to 24 metres or higher deck qualification
- Marine Engine Driver Grade 3 or higher engineering qualification TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent).
