We are seeking to appoint a chaplain (3 days a week) at Anglicare’s The Ponds Village.
Stanhope Anglican Church is delighted to have a partnership with The Ponds Village (Seniors Living), a wonderful community made up of some 300 or so residents. As a church we want to see the light and hope of Jesus in every heart and home, and this is true for the village too. The village has recently turned ten and the partnership with our church has been going strong for the last five years.
The Role:
Stanhope Anglican Church, in partnership with Anglicare, is seeking to appoint a godly and gifted person to the role of Parish Village Chaplain at The Ponds Village (three days a week). The purpose of the role is to ensure that the spiritual needs of the residents (and staff) of The Ponds Village are met in a comprehensive way.
The successful applicant will serve alongside an existing female part-time village chaplain.
The role is open to candidates who may be either an ordained Anglican minister (preferred) or a lay minister eligible to be authorised by the Archbishop of Sydney as an Anglicare Chaplain.
The Responsibilities:
- Develop and nurture the relationship between the village and the church
- Provide leadership to the chaplaincy team
- Provide and develop pastoral care to residents, and staff, of the village
- Provide leadership for the weekly church service, the monthly chapel service, and other occasional and special services as appropriate
- Establish and develop discipleship opportunities for residents, including equipping believers for ministry and mission
The Requirements:
- Person of good Christian character and holding to reformed and evangelical convictions
- Displays a deep love of the Lord
- Demonstrates empathy, compassion, and understanding of others’ perspectives
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated competency in leadership, pastoral ministry and preaching
- Theological training (ideally B.Th, or B.D. or equivalent) highly desirable with previous ministry experience
