Applications are invited for the role of Chief Operations Assistant on a full-time temporary up to 6-month basis, at Westmead Operating Suites, a tertiary referral trauma centre with 24 operating rooms.
The position leads the team of Operations Assistants across two sites and is responsible for patient transport and positioning before and after procedures. Also includes ensuring operating tables and positioning devices are cleaned, maintained and applied using appropriate manual handling techniques, to support elective and emergency surgery.
This position requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary and management teams to deliver safe, high-quality patient care in a diverse, fast-paced, unpredictable trauma environment.

- Coordinating staffing using best rostering principles
- Managing clinical resources and staffing levels
- Leading staff development and performance monitoring
- Facilitating operating room preparation and maintenance
- Supporting patient flow and person-centred care

Selection Criteria:
- Ability to demonstrate experience in patient transportation and positioning within an Operating Suite and ability to adapt to the demands of a Perioperative environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Sound knowledge of operating room equipment and maintenance of same
- Knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety and Manual handling principles and requirements
- Ability to give direction and work within a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to motivate and encourage teams
- Previous experience in managing a team
