Permanent Part Time position (up to 32 hours per week)

Salary Range: $94,412.76 - $102,394.76 per annum plus 12% superannuation

We have an opportunity for a Child Safe Advisor to join our People & Culture team.
About this Role
The Child Safe Advisor is a specialist role that will guide the Council to ensure robust systems and processes are in place to protect the wellbeing of children and young people from harm and abuse.
You will ensure Council is compliant with legislation by working with, and supporting cross-organisational efforts to build the capacity of the organisation and carry out its responsibilities in child safeguarding, monitoring outcomes and reporting to both Council and State government authorities.
Key Responsibilities:
As Child Safe Advisor you will:
- Help build understanding and compliance with the Victorian Child Safe Standards.
- Support all areas of Council to carry out its child safeguarding responsibilities.
- Help establish a culture where a focus on child safety and a zero tolerance to child abuse is embedded in our everyday practice.
- Promote and support consultation and engagement with children and families, especially in relation to decisions that affect them.
About You
For this position we are seeking someone who is highly skilled in building relationships across a diverse range of key stakeholders along with a comprehensive understanding of Child Safe standards and relevant legislation.
You will also have:
- Degree or diploma in the broad fields of Human Resources, Organisational Psychology, Organisational Development or Youth Work with relevant experience.
- Sound knowledge and application of contemporary best practice approaches for safeguarding children and young people.
- Sound understanding of the Victorian Child Safe Standards, Reportable Conduct Scheme and other relevant legislation, and experience in their practical application across a complex work environment.
- Demonstrated change and project management skills including high level administrative, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
