Civil Engineering Technician- Subsoil Drainage

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Civil Engineering Technician to be a part of our Subsoil Drainage design and project team in Dandenong South.
We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Technician specialising in subsoil drainage design and installation for our sports fields and agricultural clients. The role focuses on the planning, and execution of subsoil drainage projects across Australia, ensuring supervision and delivery of high-quality, safe, and efficient outcomes.
Description of the Position:
· Plan, design, and develop civil drainage projects for sports fields and agricultural land using Trimble Ag GPS and Laser Subsurface Drainage software.
· Prepare detailed drawings, sketches, tabulations, and technical documentation for drainage layouts based on site-specific requirements.
· Supervise and manage on-site installation of subsoil drainage systems, including overseeing equipment operation (e.g., Mastenbroek Trenchers).
· Conduct soil assessments and evaluate permeability to inform system design and layout.
· Ensure all works comply with health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and internal protocols (White Card required).
· Maintain up-to-date and accurate project records, logs, and site documentation.
· Monitor ongoing works to ensure quality control, adherence to specifications, and resolution of site challenges.
· Collaborate with, project managers, and clients to provide engineering technical advice and project updates.
· Participate in and lead fieldwork, inspections, and materials testing as required.
· Manage and coordinate project schedules and logistics, including interstate travel and equipment mobilisation.
· Supervise and support on-site personnel to ensure efficient task execution.
Required Skills and experience for the position:
· Minimum 3 years’ experience in the design and installation of subsoil drainage systems (sport-field and/or agricultural applications).
· Deep knowledge of soil properties and permeability testing.
· Proficient in Trimble Ag GPS and laser-level drainage design software.
· Hands-on experience with Mastenbroek drainage equipment or similar trenching machinery is desirable.
· Strong understanding of civil engineering procedures relevant to drainage and land development.
· Proven ability to supervise teams and manage onsite operations.
· Current White Card (Construction Induction Training).
· Excellent communication, planning, and documentation skills.
· Experience in project management within the civil or drainage sectors is desirable.
· Prior relevant work experience with large-scale agricultural or sports turf developments is highly desirable.
· Qualifications such as an Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Civil Engineering Design or equivalent are desirable.
· Certifications or experience in environmental compliance, or WHS are desirable.

Salary $76,800 - $101,000+ per annum commensurate with experience, plus super. Full time position available.
