The Opportunity

Our Australian Steel Markets business is looking for a Commercial Specialist in our Trade Affairs team based in Port Kembla NSW or Mount Waverley VIC. This is a unique opportunity to step into a role where you’ll play a key role in shaping strategic outcomes around Anti-Dumping and Trade Affairs matters that impact our Australian Steel Products (ASP) business.
You will work across diverse business areas, from sales and marketing to finance, gaining broad exposure and engaging with senior internal and external stakeholders, including government officials. You’ll enjoy broad exposure across the business, working on high-profile trade cases that help ensure a fair-trade environment. What Will You Do?
Supporting the strategic development, management and execution of anti-dumping and other trade remedy activities, you’ll make a clear impact in shaping strategic outcomes. You’ll also:
- develop an in-depth understanding of the rules-based anti-dumping framework and its commercial implications and opportunities
- collect, interrogate, and analyse complex data sets from multiple internal systems (e.g.D365, SAP, COGNOS, Power BI) to form a comprehensive evidence base
- collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to gather information and ensure data accuracy
- assist in compiling and reporting on anti-dumping monitoring including import activity and trade compliance, continuously refining monitoring processes and data systems
- respond to ad hoc queries and requests from across the business and participate in larger investigative and research projects
- prepare insights and recommendations to inform strategic decision-making related to domestic and international trade, including supporting preparation and lodgement of anti-dumping applications and responses
- support engagement with government and international trade bodies on trade remedy and FTA matters
- conduct analysis and modelling to support domestic anti-dumping initiatives and export strategies
More About You
As someone who is self-motivated and proactive with an ability to follow structured processes while maintaining flexibility and adaptability, you will bring:
- tertiary or post-graduate qualification in a business-related field (or similar data-driven discipline) such as Commerce/Accounting/Finance/Business/Economics
- competency in, or openness to learning, tools and systems such as SAP, Cognos, Power BI, and D365
- an analytical mindset with a passion for working with large, complex data sets and attention to detail
- comfort with ambiguity and shifting priorities, enjoying problem-solving in a dynamic environment
- interest in trade affairs or eagerness to develop knowledge in this area, as well as commercial acumen and curiosity to understand the story behind the data and its business impact
- effective communication skills and confidence engaging with senior stakeholders internally and externally
