This is a progressional position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next, once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of both classification ranges.

The role requires a professional who can work both independently and collaboratively to design and lead school-based interventions, while also engaging regional services and external agencies to strengthen student wellbeing, engagement, and educational outcomes.
Provide educational counselling and support services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children and students across a number of schools.
Developing and fostering relationships between the school, families and Elders to assist Indigenous students remain engaged with education, training and/or long term employment.
Participate in the development of activities, in and out of school, likely to enhance the involvement in education of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their families.
Establish and maintain links with out of school sources of information and support services to assist in the advancement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and students.
Provide information to the school community about Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander social and cultural perspectives.
Conduct home visits with students and their families, as appropriate, to advise and provide strategies for a more positive educational experience.
Be part of the professional team working with the school and the community and liaise with students, teachers, parents, guidance officers, administrative officers, officers of welfare agencies and other government departments.
