At Ernest Henry, you can choose what suits your priorities. Work an attractive fly-in/fly-out (FIFO) roster from Cairns and Townsville or a drive-in/drive-out (DIDO) roster and take advantage of our top-class camp, or live local in the close-knit community of Cloncurry and be home every night.
This roster is a 8/6 - 7/7 (Days / Nights) and a 12hr shift.

About the role
Reporting to the Underground Mechanical Supervisor, you’ll be at the heart of our mine’s operations — monitoring, controlling, and optimising critical underground fixed plant systems, including materials handling, hoisting, pumping, and ventilation. You’ll be a key link between maintenance, operations, and production teams, making sure the plant runs safely, efficiently, and to plan. You will:
Operate and monitor all areas of the plant from the central control room
Respond to alarms and process changes to maintain efficient plant performance
Carry out start-up and shutdown procedures for critical equipment
Keep clear, accurate, and timely communication with operators, winder drivers, and maintenance teams
Work closely with plant operators and maintenance teams to resolve faults or downtime
Maintain compliance with safety regulations, risk management processes, and inspection schedules
Work with supervisors and engineers to update SCADA and control system data
Provide accurate reporting on equipment performance and contribute to audits and emergency processes
About You
The ideal candidate brings calm, decisive control-room skills and a strong safety mindset. You will be comfortable leading coordination from the chair and building trusted relationships with operations, maintenance and engineering. You will also have:
A commitment to safety and risk management
Clear, confident communication skills, written and verbal
The flexibility to adapt, assist others, and take part in continuous improvement initiatives
The ability to work independently and in a team, sometimes under minimal supervision
