Job Description
As a Legal Counsel supporting our Group Life and Retirement businesses, you’ll play a key role in delivering trusted legal advice across a diverse and dynamic portfolio. This is a great opportunity for a passionate legal professional looking to grow their career in financial services law. In This Role You Will
- Advise on life insurance products and policy documents, and agreements required for TAL’s business including with our partners and third-party suppliers.
- Review disclosure material and marketing.
- Advise on legal matters relevant to our business, including the Corporations Act, Insurance Contracts Act, Life Insurance Act, Superannuation laws and other legislation relevant to a financial services business (including privacy law).
- Pro-actively identify regulatory or legislative developments relating to the TAL business.
- Advising on and assisting with legal advice on and communication to relevant stakeholders (including regulators) on breach reporting and remediation.
- Supporting the needs of the broader OCGC team.
Qualifications
- Must be admitted as a solicitor in Australia
- At least 3-7 years' legal experience in financial services
- Experience in life investments products, group insurance, retirement income or negotiating commercial contracts highly regarded
- Excellent knowledge of financial services laws including Chapter 7 of the Corporations Act, Life Insurance Act, Insurance Contracts Act and the Supervision Industry (Supervision) Act
- Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills
