Cost and Pricing Analyst

S&A Stairs
$84,467 - $106,954 a year
Melbourne, Victoria
Full time

About Us

At S&A Stairs, we don’t just build stairs; we shape the journeys people take through their homes and spaces. We’ve earned our stripes working alongside top-tier architects and setting the gold standard for volume builders. Basically, if stairs had a rulebook, we helped write it.

But we’re not stopping there.

We’re on an exciting mission to revolutionise the
customer experience in our Builder Colour Rooms and showrooms. That’s where you come in. If you live for a killer spreadsheet, thrive on turning messy data into beautiful insights, and get a buzz from finding cost efficiencies that others miss, we want your brain on our side.

This is more than just numbers; it’s your chance to help shape how our iconic products are priced, presented, and experienced across the country.

More About You

You’ll be the brain behind the numbers that shape the moments our customers remember. From pricing strategies that make sense (and cents) to insights that drive how we sell stairs in our Builder Colour Rooms, you’ll be turning data into action at the front lines of Australia’s biggest builders—Metricon, Carlisle, Henley, and more.

At S&A, people stick around (like… 9 years on average), and that’s not by accident. We give you the freedom to own your space, the support to grow, and the kind of trust that turns good analysts into great leaders. All we ask? Come ready to experiment, stay wildly organised, bring the energy, and never stop asking: "What if we tried this?"

About the Role

This isn’t just a numbers job, it’s a commercial power seat where your analysis drives real-world decisions across Australia’s leading stair brand.

As our Cost & Pricing Analyst, you’ll be the mastermind behind the systems and strategy that keep our pricing sharp, our costs transparent, and our materials flowing smoothly through the factory floor. You’ll own the data, tools, and insights that help everyone, from sales to supply chain, move faster, think smarter, and grow stronger.

Here’s what you’ll be diving into:

  • Factory Costing & Profitability – Material, labour, overhead—you’ll break it all down so we can understand exactly where value is created (and lost).
  • Pricing Strategy & Tools – You’ll own and evolve the pricing engine that drives our business. Governance, accuracy, transparency—it's all you.
  • Material Planning & Procurement Support – Help us forecast, plan, and optimise what we need, when we need it, so nothing holds up production.

You’ll work closely with our GM of Finance and collaborate across Sales, Ops, Systems, and Supply Chain teams. This is a high-impact, full-time role where your work directly fuels growth, improves profitability, and helps us build better every day.

If you love a challenge, live for clean data and clever models, and want your work to mean something on the factory floor and in the showroom, we’d love to meet you.

About You

  • You’re commercially sharp, wildly analytical, and get a thrill from turning chaos into clarity. Whether it’s pricing models, cost breakdowns, or procurement forecasts, you love connecting dots and building systems that just work.
  • You might have worked in a manufacturing or B2B environment before, but what really sets you apart is your ability to think strategically while staying obsessed with the details. You're methodical with data, great at collaborating across teams, and you don’t just make spreadsheets, you make them sing.
  • Here’s how you think and operate:
    • You understand pricing governance and strategy like a pro.
    • You’ve worked with factory costing—BOMs, routing, and inventory valuation? All in your toolkit.
    • You’re confident with procurement planning and materials forecasting.
    • Excel is your happy place—pivot tables, Power Query, lookups, even macros.
    • You know your way around ERP systems (bonus points for NetSuite).
  • You’re a proactive problem solver, a clear communicator, and the kind of person who quietly transforms the way a business operates—one data model at a time.

Nice to Have

  • You’ve built or managed pricing and costing tools that others rely on daily.
  • You’ve been part of procurement or inventory planning processes, ideally using MRP systems.
  • You’ve collaborated across Finance, Sales, and Ops to align strategy and execution.
  • You’ve helped design governance or structure into pricing/procurement systems.
  • You’re comfortable navigating ambiguity and thrive when given ownership and autonomy.

Why Join Us?

  • At S&A Stairs, we’re not your average manufacturing business; we’re a fast-paced, design-driven company that builds iconic products and incredible careers.
  • When you join us, you're stepping into a business that’s been trusted by Australia’s top builders for decades, but still runs with the energy and agility of a startup. We’re on a mission to modernise everything—from how we show up to customers in showrooms, to how we make decisions with data behind the scenes. That’s where you come in.
  • Here’s what makes it worth your while:
    • Big Impact, Real Autonomy – You’ll own your space, shape how pricing and costing works, and see the impact of your work every day.
    • Supportive Leadership – You’ll report to our GM of Finance and work with a team that’s collaborative, curious, and all about continuous improvement.
    • Growth Opportunities – Whether it’s developing your technical chops or stepping into broader strategy roles, we invest in our people.
    • Modern Tools, Real Projects – From ERP systems to Excel models that actually matter—you’ll be working with live data, not theoretical case studies.
    • Great Culture, Long Tenure – We value good people, great ideas, and a healthy dose of humour along the way.

So if you’re looking for a role where your skills won’t just sit in a spreadsheet—they’ll shape decisions, improve operations, and help us scale smarter—you’ll love it here.

If this sounds like the perfect, can't-miss opportunity for you, please apply today!
