The Data Analyst works within the Data team of the unit. It supports a range of business areas, programs and projects with significant knowledge and experience in building and maintaining end-to-end data pipelines and solutions. The position works collaboratively across the division and with the Infrastructure Resources division, to improve the collection, management and utilisation of relevant, pertinent data and information.
The position works across the entire data pipeline, including automating relevant processes (migration / ETL, integration), database design and administration. The position works with systems administration teams to build and maintain cloud infrastructure, as well as disseminating data and information by various means (e.g. PowerBI, StoryMap) to diverse audiences.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- A tertiary qualification in computer science, information management, or equivalent is desirable.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server including:
- SQL Server configuration administration
- Strong experience using Transact-SQL (T-SQL)
- Database design, including normalisation and indexing strategies for optimising performance
- Expertise and practical experience in migrating data between different database systems, ensuring data integrity and accuracy
- Hands-on experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes for seamless data migration
- Managing and implementing database security, including role-based access control and encryption techniques
- Experience with Reporting and Analysis tools such as Microsoft Power BI.
- Experience using Atlassian products, including JIRA, Confluence, to manage tasks, collaborate with teams, and track project progress efficiently.
- Knowledge of platforms like AWS and Azure infrastructure
- Experience with data modelling, data mapping and data profiling.
- Familiarity with spatial data management and geoprocessing
- Knowledge of Python and R would be advantageous.
This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
